Roy Jones Jnr claims WBF World Cruiserweight Title

On Friday, February 17th at the Chase Center in Wilmington DE - Roy Jones Jr. (65-9, 47 KOs) captured the WBF Cruiserweight World Title in defeating Bobby The Celtic Warrior Gunn (21-7-1, 18 KOs) by technical knockout in the eighth round. Gunn known for his undefeated 72-0 record in bare knuckle contests was thought to bring a bruising style that could off set the aging veteran Jones Jr. This fight was billed as Skill v Will, and this is how it went down.

The skilled veteran Jones Jr. started off this fight with great movement on his feet, while Bobby Gunn struggled to catch up. This appeared to be the pattern for the entire fight as Jones Jr. would land good shots causing Gunn to think about different approaches to get inside. Fight fans were definitely given doses of classic Roy Jones Jr. as his entertaining combinations were crisp and his footwork crafty uplifting the amped packed arena.

At the end of the seventh round, Jones Jr. landed a fierce combination buckling the legs of Gunn and forcing his nose to bleed flowingly. As the eighth round started, the bleeding nose of Gunn continued forcing the lopsided battle to end with no action. Skill definitely defeated Will on this night as the bare knuckle brawler proved to be no match for the veteran Roy Jones Jr.
