It took just 1 minute 42 seconds of the very first round of a scheduled 10 for Michael Mendoza of the Philippines to dismantle Stevanus Nana Bau of Indonesia on January 18th at the Pili Capitol Convention Centre, Pili, Camarines Sur, Philippines.
In a much anticipated championship bout, Mendoza and Nana Bau threw plenty of leather from the opening bell and in a heated exchange, Mendoza caught the Indo with a crippling counter body shot that sent the former Indonesia Boxing Council Champ to the canvas writhing in pain.
Nana Bau in obvious trouble from the perfectly timed body shot wasn't getting up and Referee Nicholas Banal waived it away crowning Mendoza WBF International Flyweight Champ. The win now places Mendoza in the hot seat for a shot at the WBF World Title later this year.
