June 7th promises to be a Night to Remember

Rockin Riccardo Monteleone plans on turning back time and defying the odds by winning the World Boxing Foundation International Light Heavy Weight Title.

On Saturday 7th June 2014, boxing is coming to The Fremantle Town Hall in Fremantle Western Australia with 'A Night to Remember.' An explosive evening of local professional boxing talent, testing their skills against a team of Ghanaians plus two Eastern state boxers.

'A Night to Remember' will be headlined by local 'Rockin' Riccardo Monteleone against Daniel Sowah from Ghana, for the vacant WBF International Light Heavy Weight Title. Monteleone defied age in August 2012 by winning the Western Australian Cruiserweight Title against a much younger and heavier opponent at 45 years of age. Now at 47, Monteleone 11(5) -3 1 has vowed to put on a boxing masterpiece against 31 year old Sowah 14(8) ' 4 -0

"If Sowah thinks he's coming over here, fighting an old man, he's not going to know what hit him. I've been training for this fight like a man possessed. It's a must win fight for me. I haven't lost a fight since 1989 and I intend on keeping that undefeated record intact. Also, win this convincingly and there's a promise of a shot at the WBF World Light Heavy Weight Title. I am leaving no stone unturned in preparation for this fight as I'm expecting a young, strong and hungry Sowah to turn up and try to take that title home." Riccardo said.

"I have no choice but to win. This is a massive opportunity and winning will open up a lot of doors for me. I'm going to do everything humanly possible to take home that belt. I don't know exactly what to expect but I have been preparing as if it is a world title. He is a very experiences opponent and I'll have to be at my best to beat. It's my time now." Says Sowah.

In the main support, the crowd pleasing and very exciting rising star, Nathaniel "Cheeky" May 5(3)-1 takes on tough and durable South Korean Hwi Jong Kim5(1) -12(3), now boxing out of Sydney NSW, over six rounds. Cheeky has an exciting future ahead of him but must pass this tough test at Fremantle first.

At the top end of the stakes, we have big hitting Paul "Boof" Samways with his do or die fighting style, taking on John Dugu from Ghana. This fight will be rare not to go the distance with these two big bangers.

The rest of the undercard is sure to be action packed with local Jacob "You can't hide" McBride making his long awaited return to the ring against Lamptey Odartey from Ghana. Also Italian import Domenico "Kiss of death" Penna, itching to get back in the ring against Musah Ibrahim (Ghana) in a middleweight contest.

OMR Promotions is very excited to be brining boxing back to Fremantle with a possible World Title coming to town in the near future. Our aim is to showcase local talent, give these individuals the best opportunity to rise in their chosen profession and bring international titles to town.
