Bartnik Beats Garashchenko

2 July 2008

Last Saturday in Sanok, Poland Wojciech Bartnik (19-4-1, 9KOs) took home the WBF International Cruiserweight Title with a convincing ten round unanimous points win over the experienced Oleksandr Garashchenko (15-12, 7KO’s) of the Ukraine. Not so long ago Garashchenko enjoyed a points win over Elvir Muriqi at the famed Madison Square Gardens but none of this seemed to phase the former Bronze Olympic medallist Bartnik who managed to win every round in his battle for title glory, with all judges scoring the bout 100-90.

WBF Intercontinental Lightweight Champion Dariusz Snarski (25-27-2, 6KO’s) defeated Araik Sachbazjan (9-5, 3KO’s) in a co-feature. After 10 entertaining rounds the scores were 98-93, 98-94, 97-93. Polish International lightweight title was at stake.

Other results from Sanok:
Krzysztof Cieslak UD6 Sergejs Savrinovics
Tomasz Zeprzalka TKO4 Michal Skierniewski

The show was promoted by Babilon Promotion, Tom Boxing Team and FLK Media.

Unassuming Philip Holiday will be a face in the crowd when Jeff Fenech steps into the ring against Azumah Nelson on June 24.

Holiday will take time out from living the quiet life with his wife and two children at bayside Victoria Point to travel to Melbourne for the nostalgic stoush.

Twelve years ago, the expatriate South African made a trip to Melbourne where his lethal punching ended Fenech’s career in just two rounds.
