FONFARA KOs THOMPSON AT THE UIC PAVILION

Rising Polish boxing sensation, Andrzej Fonfara (13-2-0, 3 Kayos) earned his first professional title belt on Friday by punishing Rockford, IL’s Skylar Thompson (11-4) into submission in the second round of their WBF Intercontinental Super Middleweight title bout at the UIC Pavilion. From the opening bell, Fonfara began unloading heavy bombs to the face and body of the game Thompson. In the second round, Andrzej landed a huge combination, knocking Skylar to the canvas. Thompson beat the count, but when asked by veteran referee John O’Brien if he wished to continue, Thompson failed to respond, forcing the third man in the ring to waive off the fight.

Chianella Wins Mediterranean Title

On Friday night David Chianella of Italy knocked out Laszlo Provits in the third round to win the WBF Mediterranean Super Bantamweight Title, bringing his professional record to 16-5-2.

CURIEL WINS UNANIMOUS DECISION

Freddy Curiel won a unanimous decision against Francisco Rubin Osoria in Dover, New Jersey last night taking the All Americas Middleweight Title in the process. Judge Eugene Grant scored 77-74, Frank Cappuccino 78-73 and Kason Cheeks 80-71. The bout was supervised by Nick Tiberi and refereed by Lindsey Page.

Servidei wins in Italy

Last week Alberto Servidei won a twelve round majority decision over Hermin Isava of Venezuela in Ravenna Italy, taking home the WBF Intercontinental Featherweight belt and improving his unbeaten record to an impressive 27-0.

Judges Toni Tiberi scored the bout 115-110, Matteo Fratini 115-109 and Renato Mosella 112-112. It was refereed by Luigi Boscarelli and supervised by Olaf Schroeder.

Martinez wins again

It was a night of solid boxing action Friday at the UIC Pavilion near Chicago’s downtown, where Dominic Pesoli’s 8 Count Productions presented “Windy City Fight Night 2”.

The main event featured local favorite Jaime Sandoval (15-4-1, 12 KOs) who looked to avenge his most recent loss against Juan Carlos Martinez (16-10-1, 7 KOs). The rematch was for the vacant WBF All-Americas lightweight title, but Martinez, once again, scored the upset over Sandoval, despite having big brother, former two-division champion Jesus “El Matador” Chavez in his corner.

Chicago’s premiere boxing promoter, Dominic Pesoli and his 8 Count Productions company once again provided fight fans an excellent night of entertainment at the UIC Pavilion. The 7 bout card was headlined with Jaime Sandoval (15-3-1) of Chicago, IL battling the rugged Mexican veteran Juan Carlos Martinez (15-10-1) in a ten round contest for the vacant World Boxing Foundation All-America’s lightweight title. Martinez claimed the WBF title belt after earning a 10 round hard fought unanimous decision.
