On Friday, July 18, 2008, Hector “Macho” Camacho, Sr. (79-5) claimed the World Boxing Foundation’s Super Welterweight International title with a 7th round TKO victory over West Virginia’s Perry Ballard (20-2) inside the Reliant Arena.

Camacho entered the ring first, in his usual flashy style wearing a long red and black cape with matching trunks. Ballard followed with a no-nonsense entrance, looking determined as he fought the most established fighter of his career.

Camacho dominated Ballard from the opening bell, and cruised to a 7th round TKO victory, when Ballard’s corner threw in the towel. Ballard left the ring with a dislocated jaw, and several cuts above his left eye, and on his scalp.

Legendary trainer Angelo Dundee served as Camacho’s chief corner man during the match.
