World Boxing Foundation Sponsors Amateur Boxing

Global world boxing sanction body the World Boxing Foundation headed out of Melbourne, Australia by former professional boxer Mick Croucher supports amateur boxing in Melbourne and state regional areas.

A recent Bairnsdale amateur boxing and youth club yearly tournament saw local trained police woman Mel Leeds defeat Brooke Whyte on points over 3 rounds. The 28 year old, 1.8 metre tall Leeds, had to work hard to bring home the points decision.

She also won the Parks/Tomkins award for the best boxer of the night. The yearly award is named in honor of the late Jock Park and Ross Tomkins, two of Bairnsdale's best ever amateur boxers.
