Fijian Savenaca Naliva claims WBF Asia Pacific Cruiserweight Title in Fiji

The Sorokoba, Ba native made his intention known after stopping John Korake of Papua New Guinea in the second of a scheduled 10 rounds to claim the vacant WBF Asia Pacific Cruiserweight title in the Main Event at the Patel College ground in Ba, Fiji on Saturday night the 29th February.

Fighting in front of his home fans at the packed venue, Naliva proved to be a class above Korake with his lightning counter punches that had the PNG Champion in trouble and down midway through the second round. Struggling to his feet during the count, Australian referee Justin Kennedy had seen enough and waived it away as Korake was in no state to continue. "I wanted the fight to go the ten rounds so my fans could watch, but my opponent could not withstand my punches." Naliva said. "He is a champion of PNG but after the first round I decided to come out attacking instead of allowing him to settle down."

Congratulations Savenaca Naliva of Fiji the new WBF Asia Pacific Cruiserweight Champ.

Official Result – Naliva def Korake (TKO 2of 10)
