Mdantsane supergirls Noni “She Bee Stingin’ Tenge and Unathi “Showtime” Myekeni will defend their WBF International welterweight and featherweight belts against Ghanaians Yinka Adeoti and Helen Joseph, respectively.

Lubabalo Msuthu makes the first defence of his World Boxing Foundation bantamweight belt when he meets Nick Otieno of Kenya at the Orient Theatre in East London on Friday night.

The southpaw Msuthu 11-2-1; 10 from Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape won a bronze medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games before making his pro debut on October 1, 2004 with a first round stoppage over Mthintheli Kewuti.

YINKA Adeoti is no Laila “Stingin’ Bee” Ali or Jacqui “Sister Smoke” Frazier-Lyde but she is definitely a tigress.

This Nigerian has made great strides since she made her professional debut on April 2 2002, chalking up six wins against two defeats and a draw.

BENDIGO’S Justin Whitehead is the new World Boxing Foundation International heavyweight champion after he scored a stunning split points decision win over Solomon Haumano in Melbourne on Sunday night.

Whitehead overcame a standing eight count in round seven to become the first boxer to defeat Haumano, a former NRL star, in 17 bouts.

“It’s easily the best win of my career,” Whitehead, who also won a bronze medal at the 1998 Commonwealth Games, said yesterday.

Blacky Seoe of Robs Promotions presents a bumper bill at the Mangaung Indoor Sports Centre in Bloemfontein on Friday night with three WBF title fights, featuring William Gare, Mlungisi Dlamini and Bongani Mwelase plus four other bouts. William Gare (24-14, 4 KOs) makes the third defence of his WBF super middleweight belt against the 31-year-old Rigoberto Alavarez (22-0, 16 KOs) from Mexico. Alvarez won the Mexican middleweight title in May 2008 with a first round knockout over Roberto Tena and then in June of the same year he captured the super middleweight title when he knocked out Felipe Romero in the third round.
