South African boxers William Gare and Mlungisi Dlamini, and promoter Blacky Seoe were saluted by the World Boxing Foundation at its recent awards ceremony for 2008 in Australia.

Gare and Dlamini hold the WBF’s super middleweight and lightweight belts, and fight under Seoe’s Robs Promotions.

In a fight which as early as May is being touted as the fight of the year, former IBO featherweight champion and IBF featherweight challenger, Takalani ‘Panther’ Ndlovu scored a close win over current WBF Junior featherweight champion Oscar ‘Golden Boy’ Chauke.

The fight was a credit to the WBF and television gave the highest praise to a contest which could have gone either way. The technical boxing excellence of Chauke behind his elegant left jab versus the aggressive come forward body punching Ndlovu had the crowd on their feet for the entire 12 rounds with referee Eddie Marshall having very little to do.

Promoter Dominic Pesoli looks to celebrate the upcoming 12-year anniversary of 8 Count Productions; not just with an exciting cross-town showdown between two of the area’s top warriors, but with a terrific new venue he can call home.

On March 27, the ever-popular Miguel “Macho” Hernandez (20-8-0, 10 KOs) will do battle against the rugged and tenacious Luciano “El Gallo Michoacano” Perez (14-9-1, 14 KOs) at the UIC Pavilion, which is located on the campus of the University of Illinois at Chicago, just minutes from Downtown. The contest will be for the WBF Americas middleweight championship and will top off a card billed as “Windy City Fight Night.”
