The ancient Egyptian town of Giza and the Great Pyramids will be the setting for the vacant World Boxing Foundation (WBF) heavyweight title clash between Britain’s Danny Williams and South Africa’s former IBF champion Francois Botha on November 30.

Details of the fight were announced confirmed by Fight Production boss Olaf Schroeder who along with Richard Nwoba and Louaa Boxing Promotions will stage the bout in a specially erected open-air amphitheatre right at the foot of the pyramids and the Great Sphinx. It will provide a magical backdrop for the heavyweight clash which will go down in history as the first prizefight ever to take place at the Middle Eastern site.

For Williams, who holds a win over Mike Tyson, this will be his second attempt at the world heavyweight crown having previously challenged Vitali Klitschko in Las Vegas four years ago. And the ‘Brixton Bomber’ also revealed he was offered the chance to appear on the Joe Calzaghe/Roy Jones undercard but instead opted to be part of the ambitious Egyptian extravaganza.
