BBU Press Release
Vaasa, Finland
27 April 2008

bbu-logo.jpgThe BBU, which was founded in Finland at the beginning of January 2008 for Baltic area´s championship union for professional boxing, has now made a co-operation contract with the worldwide working WBF.

By this co-operation contract the importance of Baltic Boxing Union as the independent championship union for professional boxers at Baltic area will get a significant increase because in future for the boxer the winning of BBU title will mean automatically the ranking position as a TOP15 challenger for WBF World Champion. For example at the latest rating list (on April) of WBF, the WBF heavyweight champion Polish Albert Sosnowski´s top contenders are among others Wladimir Klitschko (IBF-, WBO- and IBO-world champion), Ruslan Chagaev (WBA) and Samuel Peter (WBC). In addition to a position of TOP15 challenger for WBF World Champion the BBU-champion will also be noticed as the mandatory challenger for WBF International-title.

Last weekend’s much anticipated World Middleweight title between Kreshnik Qato and Vitor Sa lived up to the expectations with both fighters battling it out for all twelve rounds leaving the winner to be determined by the scorecards. The hard punching Vitor Sa’s walk up aggressive style kept Qato on his toes for the duration of the bout but ultimately he could not match the local fighters boxing ability. Judge Pawel Kardyni scored the bout 111-117, Artur Ellensohn 110-119 and Zvonko Rukavina 111-120 all in favor of the Albanian. The bout was refereed by Robert Verwijs and supervised by Olaf Schroeder. Promoter Ylli Ndroqi of KOMPANIA YLDON is also to be commended for a world class promotion and bringing world championship boxing to Albania.
