Hungarian Jozsef Matolcsi has captured the World Boxing Foundation light middleweight title after destroying Said Yazidu at the National Sporthall in Budapest, Hungary on August 25. Matolcsi wasted no time stamping his authority on the bout, flooring Yazidu twice in round one, three times in round two and once in the third before referee Bela Florian wisely intervened at 2.31 of the third round.

Mick Shaw will reconsider his boxing future after an unsuccessful attempt to capture the World Boxing Foundation Asia Pacific lightweight title against Robert Oyan at the Mansfield Tavern, Brisbane, Queensland on Friday August 25. Shaw entered the bout as the overwhelming favourite but was beaten to the punch by the determined Filipino and was floored in rounds three, four and seven before referee Derek Milham stopped the bout at 2.34 of round seven. Shaw’s trainer Glen Azar said the 30-year-old would weigh up his options after a week off.
