The WBF returned to South Africa in fine style, making up one of the five title fights on Rodney Berman’s Golden Gloves boxing extravanga which was held at Emperor’s Palace, Johannesburg on Saturday 29 July.

Gyorgy Hidvegi, the WBF World Cruiserweight champion from Hungary, was expected to be tested by the durable George Adipou Odour from Kenya 13 – 3, who boasted impressive victories against current South African cruiserweight champion Soon Botes.

World Boxing Foundation president Mick Croucher, has expressed his approval that two of Britain’s premier middleweights will square of for his organisation’s International middleweight title on Friday September 8.

Wayne Elcock, 15-2 (6) and Andy Halder, 14-5 (2) will go head to head for the title and the winner has been promised a shot at the World Boxing Foundation’s ‘World title’. The current champion, Arsen Khachatrian, sports a 28-2 (12) record, but has made only one defence since winning the title in 2004.

Geelong’s Kane McKay has picked up the World Boxing Foundation Australasian super middleweight title after a split decision points win over Thailand’s Somchai Chimrum at the Ballarat Badminton Stadium on Saturday July 15.

McKay improved his record to 7 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw after prevailing on scores of 98-92, 94-96 and 100-93 after 10 entertaining rounds.

WBF President Mick Croucher witnessed the action ringside and agreed McKay was a deserving winner.

Sean Connell has captured the World Boxing Foundation Asia Pacific super middleweight title with a enthralling 10th round stoppage win over a brave Johnny Walker in front of a capacity crowd at the Malvern Town Hall on Friday July 14.

Connell prepared for the most important fight of his professional career with tough man fights in and around Queensland and he was rewarded for his gruelling preparation with the most satisfying win of his boxing career.

Connell had Walker, who entered the fight as the overwhelming favourite, out on his feet in a brutal ninth round before another stinging combination 2.01 into the 10th and final round forced referee Chris Anderson to intervene.

WBF President Mick Croucher said it was a fitting finale to a fantastic night of fights promoted by Victoria’s Promoter of the Year, Peter Maniatis.

Paul Marinaccio will turn his attention to a rematch with Timor Ibragimov after capturing the World Boxing Foundation All Americas heavyweight title with a third round technical knockout win over Benito Fernandez at the RBC Center, Raleigh, NC, USA on June 24.

Marinaccio headlined the entertaining card promoted by Lanier Sports Marketing and didn’t disappoint his loyal following, dropping Fernandez in the second round before ending the bout 47 seconds into round three with a powerful right hook.
